Considered one of America's most successful sports writers, Reed has had a distinguished career highlighted by stints at the Louisville Courier-Journal, Lexington Herald-Leader and as a senior writer for Sports Illustrated.
Reed has covered several major sporting events, including the Olympics, Kentucky Derby, Indianapolis 500 and the NCAA Final Four.
Billy has been named Kentucky Sports Writer of the Year eight times, is a member of U.S. Basketball Writers Hall of Fame, the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame and the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame. He has also written several books.
Reed's book credits include, Famous Kentuckians, a series of profiles published in 1977; Born to Coach, the story of basketball coach Denny Crum's first 15 seasons at the University of Louisville; The Final Four, a history of that event; and Hello Everybody, this is Cawood Ledford, the autobiography of UK's legendary play-by-play announcer.
