Davis, who helped lead Minneapolis North to the Minnesota state championship last season, now plays for former St. Catherine (KY) head coach Ryan Swanson on the plains. And despite missing some action during the preseason because of injury and a bout with neumonia, Davis looks to having a promising future ahead of him.
"James has had a tough summer and pre-season with injuries and sickness, but is really starting to come on," Swanson said. "I will be shocked if he's not one of the premier centers in the country, even as a freshman. He's much more than just big, he knows how to play and use his size effectively."
The broncbusters began the season with three games over the weekend as they hosted the Pepsi Classic.
In the opening game of the tourney, Davis scored nine points against Angelina (TX) C.C. in a 102-74 win.
Against Trinidad State (Co) C.C., Davis scored 7 points and grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds in a 106-72 victory.
Last week, in a game versuses Frank Phillips (TX), Davis scored 8 points on 4-5 shooting and handed out 4 assists, blocked a pair of shots and had 2 steals.
