Diakite not only former Barton star sitting out

U of L center Nouha Diakite is not the only former Barton County standout currently sitting out to begin the season because of certification issues.

U of L center Nouha Diakite is not the only former Barton County standout sitting out to begin this season while awaiting NCAA clearance.

Missouri's Randy Pulley, who was Diakite's teammate last season at Barton and was the team's starting point, is also on ice at Missouri.

Just hours before Tuesday night's exhibition game against Inter Hoop (Lithuania), University of Missouri officials announced that Pulley would not play because of certification problems, the same reason that Diakite is currently sitting out at Louisville. Pulley had played in two October scrimmages for Quin Snyder's Tigers.

"Randy Pulley has not yet been certified for competition by the University of Missouri Certifying Officer," according to UM's official release." "Therefore, he will not be competing at this time."

However, another Barton County standout, Cincinnati's Robert Whaley, appears unaffected by the ongoing investigations into former Barton County athlete's certification.

Whaley had 21 points and 7 rebounds against EA Sports Tuesday night in Cincinnati.
