All-County athlete set to visit Louisville

Lucius Mapp of Norcross (GA) High School has the size and speed to play multiple positions at the next level. He recently spoke with ITV regarding offers, visits and favorites.

Lucius Mapp, a preseason All-Gwinnett County selection, has received a high level of interest for his play along the Norcross High School defensive line this season. However, it wasn't until this season that Mapp displayed his abilities at the defensive end spot.

As a junior, Mapp was one of the Atlanta area's top tight ends and college recruiters throughout the region are expressing their interest in him for both positions.

"Some want me to play defensive end and some want me as a tight end," explained the 6'3, 270-pound senior. "I like playing defensive end more right now."

Mapp informed ITV that he is being recruited by Louisville assistant head coach and tight ends coach Greg Nord and that U of L has said that they would like to try him at the tight end spot.

In addition to Louisville, Mapp is receiving constant attention from Auburn, Clemson and Duke.

"Louisville and Duke have [offered]," said Mapp.

He has yet to take any official visits, but will be attending the Alabama/Auburn game this weekend on an unofficial trip.

"I'm going to Louisville in January," continued Mapp. "I was supposed to go in December, but the date I was going to go on is the same day that I am taking the SAT, so we had to reschedule."

When he visits Louisville, he is expected to be joined by teammate Demario Kelly, a 5'11, 195-pound defensive back, who was also a preseason All-County selection.

As for Mapp's current favorite?

"I'm trying to keep all of my options open right now," said Mapp.
