David Lonie: "It was a very good visit"

Junior College kicker/punter David Lonie talked with ITV on Monday evening about his official visit to Louisville this past weekend.

Kicker/punter David Lonie of Ellsworth (IA) Community College, by way of Australia, became the first prospect to make an official visit to Louisville, when he visited for the Houston game this past weekend.

Lonie, a First Team All-Conference and All-American candidate, spoke with Inside theVille on Monday evening about his visit to Louisville and his future plans.

"It was a very good visit," said Lonie. "I was able to spend quite a bit of time with Coach Brohm. I also was able to meet Coach Petrino...he's a cool guy."

While in Louisville, Lonie was able to see varying aspects of the campus and football program.

"I checked out the campus and the academic programs," explained the 6'6, 215-pound kicker. "It was a great game to watch. I was also able to hang out with some of the players and get to know them."

Despite having seen the football facilites on a previous visit two seasons ago, Lonie still came away impressed.

"[The facilities] are a lot better than most Division 1 programs that I've seen," explained Lonie.

Louisville was the forth of five official visits that Lonie has scheduled, having already visited Michigan, Ohio State and Illinois. He is scheduled to make an official visit to California the weekend of December 5th.

"I'm still up in the air at the moment," explained Lonie about his favorites. "I'll have to sit down, think about things and make a decision pretty quickly."

Lonie informed ITV that he anticipates making his decision by December 8th before heading back to the Goldcoast of Australia to spend the Christmas holiday with his family.

Wherever he commits, Lonie, who is currently carrying a 3.7 GPA, will enroll in January and immediately begin class work.
