Cards appear headed to GMAC

The bowl picture continued to change throughout Monday morning and afternoon.

Earlier today, TCU declined the GMAC Bowl's invitation to attend their bowl game in Mobile, Alabama on December 18, citing conflicts with the university's final examination schedule.

GMAC officials have ackowledged they're now looking at Louisville and other teams outside of Conference USA to fill it's available slot opposite Miami (OH).

"I would say yes, we've had conversations with (conferences) other than the mid-majors," said GMAC executive director Frank Modarelli. "We've definitely had some big conferences calling."

According to officials at U of L this afternoon, no announcement is expected today on the Cards bowl situation.

Reports out of Houston this morning have the Cougars prepared to accept an invitation to the Hawaii Bowl. C-USA Champion Southern Miss has accepted an invitation to participate in the Liberty Bowl, while Memphis has agreed to play in the New Orleans Bowl.

With TCU most likely slated for the Ft. Worth Bowl, it is appearing more likely that the Cardinals will be heading to the GMAC Bowl in Mobile.
