Cardinal football lands another

Fort Campbell (KY) linebacker Gabe Wallace becomes the third member of the 2004 football recruiting class at Louisville.

Linebacker Gabe Wallace (6'1, 225) of Fort Campbell High School, who had previously given a verbal pledge to Kentucky, recently reopened his recruitment. Earlier this week, he closed it again, when he pledged his commitment to the University of Louisville.

Wallace, a 1st Team All-State selection, will make his official visit to U of L this weekend. He made a previous unofficial visit to Louisville for the Cardinals home finale against Houston.

As a junior he was named All-State Honorable Mention, Kentucky New Era All-Grid 1st team, Leaf Cronicle All-Area 1st team and Western Kentucky Conference 1st team. Wallace led Fort Campbell with 133 tackles (70 solo) and carried the ball 17 times for 105 yards and spearheaded a defense that only gave up 77 points in 13 games (5.9 points per game).

In addition to Kentucky, Wallace also received interest from Michigan State, Tennessee, Memphis, among others.

Wallace joins linebackers Maurice Mitchell and Johnnie Burns as members of the 2004 Louisville football recruiting class.
