Inside theVille spoke with Elijah's father Herman on Sunday afternoon regarding his son's recent commitment to the Louisville program.
"He's pretty excited about it," said Daniel. "Coach Joe Whitt did a great job recruiting him. He stayed in constant contact with him and they even had someone down here when he played in the state championship game."
Elijah, along with a fellow Louisville prospect, Chris Nickson, helped guide thier school to the Alabama Class 3A State Championship, where they defeated Oneonta 30-7. Elijah had 3 catches for 79 yards in the victory.
Elijah made his initial visit to Louisville for the Cardinals game against the Memphis Tigers and according to his father, left impressed by the experience.
"It wasn't a good game for Louisville, but we had a great day," explained Daniel. "We were able to see the stadium, the facilities and talk with Coach Petrino."
The family atmosphere that exists among the Cardinal coaches and players also played an important role in Elijah's recruiting.
"They gave us the best treatment that we've ever received," continued Daniel. "Normally you don't receive the type of attention from all the coaches that we did. Usually it's just one coach that stays in contact with you. They treat you like family there and we really appreciated that."
"An excellent all-around athlete, Daniel can line up and play corner or wide receiver on the next level," said TheInsiders recruiting analyst Scott Kennedy on Sunday. "In talking with several coaches on both the high school an college level as well as other scouts on TheInsiders.com network, they confirmed what I had thought about Daniel from the beginning, that he is probably the best college prospect on the team that includes Alabama's Mr. Football Chris Nickson and Alabama commitment Nick Walker."
