Cards High on Davis' List

Longtime Canadian Hoops guru Ro Russell, a mentor and coach of 6'9 Theo Davis, talks about Davis' recruitment, early list, and interest in Louisville.
EXTRA:
Game Breakdown: JuJuan Spillman
Nobody Asked Me But...(Billy Reed)

We introduced University of Louisville fans to 6'9 Theo Davis last week as he had tentatively scheduled an unofficial visit for the U of L - Florida game.

In the end, that visit didn't pan out and according to Ro Russell, Director of Grassroots Canada and confidant of Davis, the 6'9 forward won't be able to make it to Louisville this Saturday for an unofficial visit either, when the Cards take on Austin Peay.

However, Russell says the Cards figure prominently on Davis' early list and would definitely be one of the schools in his top five.

"Louisville is definitely a school he wants more information about and to get to know the people in the program better," Russell said. "But he hasn't even met Coach Pitino yet."

Russell has some familiarity with Louisville as Terry Licorish, a former player, verbally committed to Denny Crum a few years ago. And Louisville appears to have some local ties to the talented Davis that could pay dividends down the road.

Expexted to make a spring or early summer decision, Davis is currently focused on maintaining his grades, which are good, improving his skills on the court, and getting bigger and stronger in the weight room, according to Russell.

Besides Louisville, Russell said programs like St. John's , UCLA, Pittsburgh, Texas and Florida are all in the mix for Davis' services.

And even though Russell characterizes Davis's decision making in the beginning phases, the timeline presented for a possible spring decision means an awful lot will be happening in the 6'9 forward's recruitment during the next few months.
