Surely, they remember, too, the hurculean effort Telfair provided not only to return during the second half of that game but to lead Lincoln to a victory over the nationally ranked Florida outfit.
As it turned out, the ankle was more severly injured than many initially thought, especially considering his gutty second half performance against Edgewater, and forced Telfair to miss significant game action during the past two weeks.
But Telfair has made quite a return to action in his past three outings.
In typical Telfair fashion, the 6'0 Louisville-bound senior, scored a game high 37 points on 13-23 field goals and 5-8 three point shooting at the Pangos Dream Classic last week. He was perfect from the charity stripe (6-6), and dished out 6 assists while committing only two turnovers in an 85-82 overtime win over Bryce Taylor and North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake.
This week, Telfair has been off the charts, tourching Lafayette High for 55 points, and New Utrecht for 48 points, and 8 assists, including 9 three pointers. Lincoln won both games going away.
Pena at ABCD (ITV)
Also on display this weekend will be 6'7 Antonio Pena. Considered one of the top 60 prospects in the junior class, Pena is off to an impressive start to his junior season, and had 23 points and 10 rebounds against Harvard-Westlake at the Pangos Dream Classic. Several BIG EAST schools are involved in Pena's recruitment, including Louisville.
Telfair and Lincoln are scheduled to arrive in Louisville on Friday and are expected to attend an early evening press conference that day.
Game time is scheduled for 5:00 PM and tickets can be purchased for $10 at Tailgaters Bar and Grill and at PRP.
