ITV Only Hot News

  • A few weeks ago, it was reported that Bobby Buchanan had removed the 'soft verbal' listing next to his name and was solid with his commitment to Illinois. Well, as I was told during my recent conversation with his father, "don't believe everything that you read!" In otherwords, Buchanan, as he told ITV on December 9th, is still very much considering the Cardinals and will make his official visit on January 16th. Buchanan, the younger brother of former Cardinal great Ray Buchanan, was a 1st Team All-State selection by the Chicago Tribune.
  • After signing six from the Tallahassee area last winter, the Cardinal coaching staff could once again have another successful recruiting run into the home of Florida State. Teammates Ellis Gaulden and Del Roberts will both be making official trips to the River City, as will offensive lineman Phillip Moody of North Florida Christian and Craig Gelhardt of Lincoln High School. Other area prospects include Dustin Gibson, Clavin Darrity, Joshua Henderson, Danny Muy and Joe Manning.
  • Speaking of Craig Gelhardt, the 6'4, 230-pound tight end/center recently participated in the CaliFlorida Bowl, which the Florida team won. Gelhardt spoke with ITV on Sunday and told us that he is open among his favorites which include Louisville, Connecticut, Clemson, Tulane, Middle Tennessee and South Florida. He'll visit Louisville on January 16th. He was recently named among the Top 40 prospects by the Tallahassee Democrat.
  • Sticking with the Tallahassee theme...Louisville continues to lead for 6'5, 260-pound lineman Phillip Moody.
  • Moving out of Tally, but staying in Florida, keep an eye on 6'2, 265-pound Immanuel Hutchinson. Like most Cardinal prospects, he's another that you'll only hear about on ITV. He's projected as either a defensive tackle or offensive lineman on the college level. He was recently named to the All First Coast team in Florida and has visits scheduled for Louisville and Connecticut. He visited Vanderbilt in mid-December. He recorded 7 total tackles, including three for a loss and a sack in the North-South Shrine All-Star game.
  • Okay, one more time, back to Tally. While the Cardinals are still on the outside looking in, Lincoln High School offensive lineman Danny Muy is awaiting to see what transpires with the vacant head coaching position at Nebraska before moving forward. He currently favors the Cornhuskers, but depending on the new hire, Muy may reconsider and possibly visit Louisville.
  • On to Jacksonville, which is where we find defensive end Jonathan Presley. The 6'4, 235-pound end, who was 4.8 speed, will visit Louisville the weekend of January 16th. He told ITV that he is "pretty wide open" among his leaders which includes the Cardinals, along with Middle Tennessee and Iowa State.
  • Sticking in Jacksonville, fullback Drew Steinmetz of Trinity Christian High School will visit Louisville this weekend. He told ITV on Thursday evening that it is possible that he could commit during his visit.
  • Moving north into Georgia is where we find tight end Josh Satterthwait. The 6'4, 245-pound tight end told ITV on Sunday that he will visit Louisville on January 16th. He visited East Carolina in December and is tripping to Troy State this weekend. The All-County selection is being recruited by some as a potential offensive lineman, but told ITV that Louisville is looking at him as a tight end.
  • Making the trip back to Louisville, ITV has learned that the Cardinal coaching staff has expressed recent interest in Trinity defensive end Blake Nix. The 6'3, 210-pound end was a 2nd team All-State selection by the Associated Press.

    A Look Ahead

It's never too early to take a peek into the future and the Bluegrass State will continue to produce a number of Division IA prospects next season. He's a look at just a few that will likely appear on the first 'ITV Bluegrass 25' which is scheduled to appear in late February.

    QB Chris Todd
    6'3, 190
    Elizabethtown High School
Possibly the early leading candidate for Mr. Football. Todd threw for over 3,000 yards and 33 touchdowns while leading E-town to the Class AA Final this year.

    WR Maurice Urrutia
    6'2, 175
    Fern Creek High School
The younger brother of Mario Urrutia and already receiving heavy interest from Louisville.

    DB Michael Schwindel
    6'4, 200
    Hancock County High School
Possibly the best kept secret in the state...for now. Great size, great speed and already eligible. Had nine interceptions as a junior. Louisville has started expressing interest.

    DL Earl Heyman
    6'3, 240
    Ballard High School
1st Team All-State selection this past season who, along with Urrutia, will be one of the top players in Jefferson County.

    DL James McKinney
    6'4, 260
    Central High School
Already committed to Michigan, but will most likely still take his five official visits next winter. Louisville has also offered.
