The standout from Joiliet Catholic (IL), after earlier extending a verbal commitment to Illinois' Ron Turner, decided to follow the legacy of his older brother Ray and play for Louisville.
"It was a little earlier than I would have like to," Buchanan told Inside The Ville. "But, I have made my decision and I talked to coach Petrino, Cassity and Johnson and told them that I will join the Louisville Cardinals."
"It was the toughest decision I have ever made but I felt Louisville was for the best."
Buchanan, ranked the nation's No. 69 cornerback prospect by TheInsiders.com, was a three year varsity starter at JCHS and projects as either a corner or safety in college. He has great speed (4.4), and likes to hit.
He was named first team all-state as a senior by the Chicago Sun Times and led Joliet to their 11th state championship last season.
"Not many people threw in his direction this season," said Joliet Catholic Head Coach Dan Sharp. "Bobby is an outstanding cover guy and a great tackler."
In the end, Louisville was simply the best fit for the talented Buchanan, who made an official visit to the U of L campus last weekend with his older brother.
And Louisville fans will be excited to know that...
"The next edition of Buchanan is coming!"
