6'7 DE Breno Giacomini commits to Louisville

6'7, 242-pound defensive end Breno Giacomini has pledged to Louisville.

Rarely has the University of Louisville football program ventured to the northeast for football recruiting, but while that will most likely change with the pending move into the Big East Conference, one of the Cardinals recent commitments, Breno Giacomini, hails from the Boston, Massachusetts area.

However, Giacomini became an interest of the Louisville program due to a relationship built between his high school defensive coordinator and Louisville's Coach Petrino.

"My coach knows the coach there, so he sent them some film and they said that they were interested," explained Giacomini.

The U of L coaches were interested and extended an invitation for an official visit soon after.

"I visited there last weekend and loved it," Giacomini said. "I liked everything about it."

At 6'7, 242-pounds with a 40-speed of 4.8, Breno Giacomini of Medford High School has the size and speed that could possibly allow him to see action along the Cardinals defensive line next fall.

"I hope to play as a true freshman," stated Giacomini. "We talked about it, so I probably will."

Also a standout on the hardwood, Giacomini is currently averaging 23 points and 17 rebounds a contest.

"I have just wanted a scholarship my whole life," said Giacomini, who also received interest from a number of smaller programs regarding his abilities in basketball. "It happened for me with football and it still hasn't completely sunk in yet. Playing on ESPN and in the Big East is going to be awesome!"
