6'6 Johnson continues to get interest from U of L

RECRUITING EXCLUSIVE - 6'6 small forward Marcus Johnson, a junior at Los Angeles Westchester High School, continues to receive interest from Louisville.

While Louisville assistant coach Vince Taylor checked in with forward Tasmin Mitchell in Denham Springs, Louisiana, assistant Reggie Theus continued to show interest in another forward from the west coast.

Going back to his ties in California, Theus recently dropped in to check out the progress of 6'6 small forward Marcus Johnson of Los Angeles Westchester High.

"They've followed his progress all along and continue to show interest in him," Westchester head coach Ed Azzam said.

Though Syracuse appears the early favorite, Louisville has been a constant player in Johnson's recruitment.

"We haven't talked about colleges much because we don't discuss recruiting during the season," Azzam said. "But Marcus has shown some interest in them [U of L]."

One of the best athletes in his class, Johnson projects as an athletic swingman with great potential as a defender in college. He's trying to improve his jumper and show he can expand his game away from the basket.

"He's been playing well and improving quite a bit offensively and on defense," Azzam said.

Stay tuned for future updates on Johnson's progress as the season comes to an end.
