Pitino Sees Lofton

Days after University of Louisville assistant Reggie Theus scouted Mason County's Chris Lofton, U of L head coach Rick Pitino made the trip to Alexandria, Kentucky to check out the Mr. Basketball frontrunner for himself.

Just a few days after University of Louisville assistant coach Reggie Theus traveled to Mason County high school to evaluate 6'2 Chris Lofton, U of L head coach Rick Pitino traveled to Alexandria, Kentucy to see the Mr. Basketball frontrunner in action against Bishop Brossart.

Mason County defeated Bishop Brossart 62-51. Unconfirmed reports had Lofton with 12 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Pitino's attendance at Lofton's game occured at the same time as speculation heats up that Cardinal signee Sebastian Telfair has played himself into a lottery pick in the 2004 NBA Draft.

Lofton appears one of the heavy favorites to receive a scholarship offer from Louisville should Telfair declare for the NBA Draft later this spring.

Lofton led Mason County to the Sweet Sixteen title in 2003 and was named the MVP of the state tournament. He's averaging about 25 points per game as a senior.
