Nate Smith is a success in rugby

Former Cardinal kicker Nate Smith has returned home from touring with the USA National Rugby team in Australia.

Former University of Louisville placekicker Nate Smith returned to the United States after traveling to Australia to play rugby for the USA National team.

Smith started three games of the team's four games at the winger position. He was named the player of the game after recording 15 tackles, including a triple, a string of three tackles in a row, in a loss to the Goulbern Stockmen.

Making his first career start, Smith scored his first career touchdown and went 4-for-5 in kicks for goal. On the tour, Smith recorded 26 total tackles as the USA squad went 0-4.

Smith has been offered a roster spot with Wyong or Goulbern in the CRL, but plans to sign with the Australian Wyong team in the near future.
