All-State QB headed to Louisville

Quarterback Hunter Cantwell is expected to join the Cardinal football program this fall.

Inside the Ville has confirmed that Paducah Tilghman quarterback Hunter Cantwell has decided to become a preferred walkon at the University of Louisville this fall.

Cantwell has great size at 6'4, 210-pounds, as well as a great arm. As a three-year starter, Cantwell displayed great accuracy and finished his career at Paducah Tilghman ranked in the top ten in the state for career completion percentage.

As a senior, Cantwell completed 62% of his attempts, throwing for 1,788 yards and 20 touchdowns, while helping guide Tilghman to the Class AAA semifinals before losing 35-21 to eventual champion Boyle County.

During his time behind center at Paducah Tilghman, Cantwell racked up career numbers of over 6,700 passing yards and 67 touchdowns.

He was an AP All-State honorable mention choice, as well as a 3rd Team All-State selection by the Louisville Courier-Journal. The Lexington Herald-Leader listed Cantwell as one of the top 50 prospects in the state this past season.

Cincinnati, Indiana and Kentucky are among those that also expressed interest in Cantwell.
