LA's Marcus Johnson has a leader

University of Louisville head coach visited Marcus Johnson of Los Angeles Westchester last week while on the west coast and the talented forward has a Big East flavor to his current list.

University of Louisville head coach Rick Pitino hit the west coast recruiting trail extremely hard last week.

Not only did he visit 6-foot-7 Jamal Boykin of Los Angeles Fairfax, he also made a quick stop to Westchester High School last Wednesday to speak with 6-foot-6 small forward Marcus Johnson.

Johnson ranks as one of the elite wing players in the class and is probably only a consistent jump shot away from being considered one of the top overall talents. He's athletic, has good scoring tools and excels in an uptempo situation.

Several high major programs have shown interest in Johnson and asked for a current list of schools that he's considering, Johnson said, "Syracuse, Louisville, Kansas, UConn and Arizona."

When asked if a leader had emerged from the pack, Johnson replied, "Syracuse has been number one since the beginning."

Johnson said he plans on making a decision prior to his senior season and he'll take the SAT on May 1st.
