Western HS athlete has offer from Cards

Western High School's Corey Goodson was one of the top running backs in the state last fall and the senior to be has collected an offer from the hometown Cardinals.

Corey Goodson of Western High School may not be a name familiar to most, likely due to the fact that Western plays on the Class AAA level. However, he's athlete that has caught the attention of the Louisville coaching staff.

"I'm probably getting the most from Louisville right now," Goodson told ITV following the Jefferson County Combine at Ballard High School. "They offered, which I thought was great."

Goodson is an impressive runner, compiling over 3,000 yards on the ground over the past two seasons.

Last fall as a junior, Goodson averaged an impressive 166-yards a contest, running for 1,843 yards, which was tops in Jefferson County, and 25 touchdowns while helping Western to a final record of 8-2.

"I want to try to help Western win a state title for the first time in school history," Goodson said when asked about senior goals. "I want to try to be Jefferson County's leading rusher again too."

A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Goodson didn't grow up following any area teams and claims to be open at this point.
