A 5-foot-11 spark-plug, Eaton's game resembles that of former University of Louisville and University of Cincinnati point guard Keith Legree. He's strong with the ball, difficult to trap and runs his team efficiently.
Also a standout on the gridiron, Eaton now says he's entirely focused on basketball.
"As of right now, I'm through playing football," Eaton said. "I don't intend to play my senior year and I'm concentrating on playing basketball only right now."
Eaton, who will take the SAT June 5 to improve his previous test score, is also working to improve his conditioning and his skills this summer on the hardwood.
"I've got a personal trainer working with me to get in better condition and get my body in better shape," Eaton said. "I'm also shooting about 500 jumpshots per day."
On the recruiting trail, Eaton lists Cincinnati, Louisville, Oklahoma State and Georgia Tech as his current favorites, and said the Cardinals and Bearcats comprised his top two. Eaton may try to make an unofficial visit to UC this summer. He also listed hometown SMU, Arkansas and Illinois as his second tier schools.
"I like both schools about the same," Eaton said of Louisville and Cincinnati.
Eaton is intriuged with the idea of learning from two NBA veterans in U of L's Rick Pitino and Reggie Theus.
"A big factor in my decision will be finding a coaching staff who will help me work on my game and develop the skills necessary to get to the next level," Eaton said.
