First Offer In For PA Lineman

6-foot-5, 255-pound lineman Josh Byrom has received his first scholarship offer and talks favorites with Big East Scout Bob Lichtenfels.

McKees Rocks (PA) Josh Byrom (6-5, 255, 4.8) plays TE for Montour High School. However, he is being recruited as an offensive tackle. Josh recently got his first scholarship offer from Louisville. It has become commonplace for schools to recruit big athletic tight ends and convert them to tackles.

Byrom has visited Pittsburgh and Maryland. His father Bruce is a former Terrapin player and tries to help Josh with the recruiting process. Josh recently saw his stock rise when he attended the Metro-Index camp and showed well during the drills.

During his junior season, Josh caught 27 passes for 340 yards and 5 touchdowns. He was an honorable mention All-Conference selection (Parkway). Right now, the Byroms are getting their summer camp plans in order. One destination for sure will be Pittsburgh.

"All indications lead us to believe that if they like what they see they will offer. After attending junior day there, Pittsburgh moved up to the top for Josh," said Bruce.

Current favorites include Pittsburgh, Louisville, Kentucky, Syracuse, and North Carolina.
