Schwindel attends Senior Day, talks favorites

Hancock County's Michael Schwindel was among the athletes that participated in U of L's Senior Day this past weekend. ITV spoke with the talented defensive back about his visit, favorites and more.

This past Sunday, the Louisville football program held its Senior Day camp, bringing in athletes such as Mike Donoghue, Rocky Ross, Blake Boyd and Michael Schwindel.

Schwindel of Hancock County has great size at 6-foot-3, 200-pounds and runs a solid 4.6 forty. On Sunday he had an opportunity to go against similar competition and the senior-to-be felt he held his own.

"I think I did pretty good at the camp," Schwindel said. "The whole day was pretty good for me."

With one offer in hand from Kentucky, which he has had since early spring, Schwindel spent some time afterwards visiting U of L defensive coordinator Mike Cassity.

"He was asking me what my plans were for the summer and what I would be doing to get ready to play my senior year," Schwindel explained.

Michael's response?

"I'll be doing a lot of weight lifting and training."

While Louisville has yet to offer Schwindel, who was a 2nd Team All-State choice last season, the Cardinals continue to remain high on his list of favorites.

"Kentucky and Louisville are definately up there," said Schwindel. "Then probably Tennessee and Purdue ."

Also a standout forward on the hardwood, Schwindel is also be recruiting by schools to play roundball. However, Schwindel has talked about playing just one sport in college, but yes yet to decide which route he will take.

"I'm still not for certain," Schwindel explained. "I'm probably leaning towards football right now because of the interest I'm getting."

Schwindel will also camp at Kentucky later this month.
