2004 SF Nick Young: Louisville Interested?

6-foot-6 senior wing forward Nick Young of Reseda, California recently received a qualifying test score and is now eligible to play college basketball next season. He's getting looks from some big time programs. Is Louisville one of them?

Nick Young, a 6-foot-6 wing prospect who just graduated from Cleveland High School in Reseda, California, recently received a qualifying SAT score that will allow him to play college basketball next season.

Extremely talented, Young, considered by TheInsiders.com as the No. 2 small forward prospect on the west coast, verbally committed to USC last fall but never signed a binding national letter of intent.

Now, as Greg Hicks of TheInsidersHoops.com reported yesterday, Young has reopened his recruitment and made an unofficial visit to UCLA on Tuesday. According to Hicks, sources close to the Cleveland High program indicate that a visit to Louisville this weekend has been tentatively scheduled.

The question from Louisville's perspective now becomes is Young the player to be named later for 6'7 forward Nate Daniels and 6'7 guard Donta Smith, both of whom were expected to play important roles for the Cardinals next season? As things stand now, the Cardinals will be a bit thin depth-wise on the wing, especially if junior Taquan Dean is forced to play point guard again next season.

Other schools interested in the talented forward, who averaged 27 points and 10 rebounds last season, include Pittsburgh, DePaul and Oklahoma State.
