Cardinal football to take center stage this fall

Last fall the U of L football program appeared on national television four times during the regular season. The 2004 Cardinals will top that mark this fall.

The University of Louisville football program is beginning to take its place on center stage as the Cardinals will be featured on national broadcats eight times during the 2004 season.

With 17 starters returning, including nine on one of the top offenses in the nation last season, the Cardinals will appear on national television five times and are scheduled to appear on national radio three times.

The Cardinals open the season against Kentucky with a September 5 contest that will be broadcast live on ESPN and the College Football Radio Network.

On October 14, the Cardinals will take on nationally-ranked Miami (Fla.) on ESPN's featured Thursday night broadcat. Westwood One radio may also pick that contest up, along with the November 10 game against TCU.

Louisville hosts USF in another ESPN game on Friday night October 22 before taking Memphis on ESPN on November 4 and TCU on ESPN2 on November 10.

"We're excited about being featured on many of these networks," said head coach Bobby Petrino. "This is something that's great for recruiting and our football program because many of our recruits are home watching and listening to the radio. This kind of national exposure is immeasurable for us as we continue to build this program."
