NIKE: Camp Report

Indianapolis - With coverage from ABCD and adidas pouring in, ITV had someone at Nike camp on Friday to get a look at U of L prospect Kevin Durant.

UofL prospect Kevin Durant showed a lot of poise on Friday. Durant had 11 points and 4 assists shooting (5-10) in his last game. He has several strengths, including great handles, passes the bell well, and plays solid defense. At 6'8 Durant was matched up against a much bigger player but shut him down with out a problem. He hustles on both ends of the floor and wants the ball during crunch time. Durant had trouble posting up and was pushed out of the paint on more than one occasion. He also needs to improve as a rebounder. He lists Louisville as one of his favorites.

Tyler Hansbrough who is probably the best player at Nike camp, played solid on both ends of the floor and defender very well. He defended much better than we expected. Two Juniors to keep an eye on are 7'0 Brian Zoubek and 7'1 Jason Bennett, both are huge kids and very skilled.

With talented players all over the place at Nike many top coaches were in attendance including: Lute Olsen, Roy Williams, Skip Prosser, Tubby Smith, Billy Donavan, John Calipari, Mike Krzyzewski, Pete Giullen, and Kelvin Sampson.

ITV talked with Murray State head coach Mic Cronin between games and Cronin was quoted as saying, "Recruiting is going well, and I love my new job." He also said: "you guys,(ITV) are everywhere."

Also, several active college players were in attendance working the camp as counselors. Chuck Hayes, David Lee, Sheldon Williams to name a few. They went through a few drills and stations before scrimmaging. Yesterday's action was fierce, during one game David Lee went right at Zach Randolph, catching him with a nasty elbow to the head. Chuck Hayes and Jason Maxiell of Cincinnati both looked real good during the scrimmages.
