Cooper, who died after sustaining injuries in an April shooting, was a three-year starter for the Huskers and one of the top defenders in the Big 12 Conference. At Sacred Heart, Cooper was a first-team all-state selection in 2000 and a second-team all-state selection in 1999. She was also named to the Kentucky Cup All-Tournament team in 1998, 1999 and 2000.
"Our family is so honored with this tribute to Jenna," said Ellen Cooper, Jenna's mother. "We are so touched that on this one evening Jenna's former Nebraska teammates, the University of Louisville, former Javanon teammates, and Sacred Heart Academy will all be coming together to celebrate Jenna's life."
"The University of Nebraska approached us about playing this game in Jenna's honor and we wanted to due our part in remembering Jenna," said U of L head coach Karen Ferguson. "Jenna was an outstanding player and person, and we are honored to be a part of this event.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted and given to the Jenna Cooper Scholarship fund at Nebraska.
The Cardinal Fan Fest will also take place that evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. with all of the U of L fall teams present to sign autographs, including the 2004 Cardinal football team.
