Cards Still Top Alston's List

Paducah Tilghman's Lamar Alston has collected five scholarship offers and continues to list the Cardinals high on his list.

High school football practice throughout the Bluegrass State is underway and many of the state's top prospects have started fine tuning their skills in preparation for the final season.

Among the many high Division IA prospects is a Paducah Tilghman's Lamar Alston, who has collected an impressive list of scholarship offers.

"Louisville, Indiana, Alabama, Wake Forest and Illinois have given me offers," Alston said on Tuesday. "I think Auburn has as well."

As for his favorites, Alston continues to list the Cardinals high on his list.

"It's still Louisville and Florida," Alston said. "They are the main two right now."

While the Gators have yet to extend a scholarship offer, they have indicated to Tilghman head coach Perry Lee Thomas that an offer would be given this fall.

Kentucky has yet to offer and currently don't appear on Alston's list of favorites, but that doesn't mean that the Wildcats don't have a chance.

"They can still make up some ground," Alston explained. "They have asked me to come up there."

For now however, Alston is turning his attention to his final year at Tilghman, which kicks off its season on August 20th against Lexington Henry Clay. Tilghman will host Louisville Ballard the following weekend.

"I'm getting ready for the season," said Alston. "We should be pretty good, especially if our offensive line comes together."

Alston doesn't anticipate making a college decision until after the season, giving him opportunities to make a few official visits.

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound defensive back prospect was an honorable mention All-State choice following his junior campaign, but will likely finish his senior season among the top vote-getters this winter.
