Torres hopes to decide next month, UL in the mix

New York shooting guard Ricky Torres will choose to play college basketball at either Pittsburgh, St. John's or Louisville and he wants to visit the "Ville," next month before making his decision.

He can score and score from anywhere on the court. Pittsburgh, St. John's, and Louisville now round out his final list. And each has an equal chance of landing him. "Louisville is a school I will probably visit in September," said 6-5 swingman Ricky Torres of St. Raymond's High School in the Bronx, New York.

Torres said he also plans to officially visit St. John's and Pittsburgh before he makes a decision. "I am hoping that if we can do it right that I can make a decision in September," Torres said. "I don't have a favorite right now."

Torres, who plays his summer ball with the New York Ravens, has the skills to put up big numbers offensively. "We don't have to play like superstars at my high school," Torres said. "One night I can have a big night. And another night another player can have a big night."

St. Raymond's won the city championship last year. One of the main reasons was Ricky Torres. "Winning is the most important thing," Torres said. "We have great coaches and players that want to win."

Torres hopes to make a choice between Louisville, Pittsburgh, and St. John's before his season begins. "They all told me they need someone who can score," he said. "So I am looking at all three of them equally."
