"We played pretty good," said Boyd, who threw and rushed for touchdowns in the season opener. "We have some good players this year, so I think we can play with anybody this season."
Boyd, who starts at both quarterback and defensive end for Madisonville is often the difference maker in many of his school's contests, which is just one reason why school's have started to show increased interest.
Boyd will be on hand for the Cardinals opener against Kentucky on September 5th as one of many unofficial visitors. He also anticipates attending the Marshall home contest against Troy State on September 4th, as well as a trip to South Carolina for their home opener against Georgia.
Despite the multiple offers, Boyd claims a clear front-runner for his pending commitment.
"Louisville is definately in the lead," said Boyd, who grew up a fan of the Cardinals. "I want to get out and visit the other schools one more time to see what is out there and have something to compare with."
With his scheduled unofficial visits all set for early September, could a decision to close behind?
"I might make a decision within a month", said Boyd.
