Spillman, who told Inside The Ville Wednesday evening that he would be dropping by the Cardinals football practice Thursday afternoon, could announce his commitment to Louisville at any time, according to sources at Pleasure Ridge Park High School familiar with his recruitment.
In fact, according to our source, Spillman will meet with both the football and basketball coaches at U of L sometime this week, possibly this Saturday, to discuss playing both sports at U of L next season.
"He really wants the opportunity to play both sports and I think Louisville will let him do that," the source said. "Plus he's always liked Louisville and they're going into the Big East next season and that's very appealing."
And while Spillman appears to be all but signed, sealed and delivered to Louisville, that didn't stop the University of Kentucky from visiting PRP on Thursday in an effort to sway the standout to consider playing in Lexington.
"One of the football coaches from Kentucky was here at the school today and one of our football coaches told him that Spillman was going to Louisville," the source said. "I spoke with him earlier today about Kentucky and he really didn't seem interested in them."
Miami (Fla) has also shown recent interest in Spillman, considered by many to be the top basketball prospect in the state, but the Hurricanes don't appear much of a factor in the 5'11 speedsters recruitment.
"Miami just called and said they're interested in him but I think Miami is just too far from home for him," the source said. "Plus they said the chances of him playing both sports down there are very slim."
