Cards offer Florida running back

While the cupboard is anything but bare at running back at Louisville, the coaching staff is always looking toward the future and have recently offered a back from the Sunshine State.

Glen Coffee of Fort Walton Beach High School in northwest Florida is attracting interest from a number of programs throughout the southeast and the University of Louisville is the latest to offer the 6-foot-1, 205-pound running back.

"Right now I have offers from West Virginia, Louisville, Central Florida and Middle Tennessee," Coffee said on Monday evening.

The list of offers is bound to escalate over the coming weeks, especially if he continues to produce big numbers.

"In our last game I rushed 13 times 160 yards and three touchdowns," explained Coffee, who has 388 rushing yards through games.

In addition to those that have offered, Coffee lists a top three from the group of many others that are expressing interest.

"Right now my top three is LSU, Auburn and Florida," said Coffee, who could also play linebacker on the college level.

However, he admits that his official visits will be important when it comes time to choosing a school later this year or early in 2005.

"I want to take as many [official] visits as I can," continued Coffee. "I plan on taking some during Christmas break. I want to find a school that has down to earth coaches and check out the facilities."

A chance to early action is something that is high on his list as well. "I'm looking for playing time. I'd like to play as a freshman."
