Another top Jersey LB considering Cards

Jerome Hayes of Bayonne High School in New Jersey has lined up four official visits and is considering a trip to Louisville for his fifth and final choice.

Two of the top linebackers in the country this year can be found in New Jersey with Brian Cushing of Bergen Catholic and Jerome Hayes of Bayonne High School.

Louisville fans have discovered the talent and ability of Cushing and have seemingly made him one of the top three prospects, along with local athletes James McKinney and Earl Heyman.

Jerome Hayes is another that may draw similar attention as those three.

With more than 45 scholarship offers to date, Hayes has an impressive list of schools to choose from for official visits, but the 6-foot-2, 225-pound backer recently scheduled four and has a short list of schools under consideration for the fifth and final trip.

"I basically have four of my five visits lined up right now," Hayes recently told "I'll visit Michigan State, Rutgers, Miami and Florida."

Hayes also mentioned that Louisville, Nebraska, Virginia Tech and Tennessee are the schools under consideration for that fifth visit.

"Louisville is definately one of the teams on the bubble for that fifth visit," Hayes told Inside the Ville on Sunday. "I haven't been there before, but I've seen them on ESPN a few times and have been watching whats going on down there."

While he projects as a linebacker by many, Hayes is also an impressive running back.

"I could play either linebacker or running back in college," said Hayes. "I'm not sure yet of which one I'd like to play."

Like Cushing and McKinney, Hayes was recently named a U.S. Army All-American and will participate in the January 15th event held at the San Antonio Alamodome.
