Whatever the thought process may have been (although I expect that the Pirates didn't expect to see their opponent walk into the stadium at the opposite end), it backfired.
"We were focused and we were ready, but they lit that candle," said sophomore Michael Bush following the Cardinals 59-7 victory.
The pregame antics removed any concern of the Cardinals possibly looking ahead to the upcoming game at #4 Miami as Louisville limited the Pirates to just 72 yards of offense in the first half.
"That was justice," said senior safety Kerry Rhodes of the Cardinals dominating win. "They got us going when they came in and were on the bird before we got here. We just wanted to go out there and show them who really owned the bird."
"I guess they're just trying to fool themselves," Rhodes continued when asked his thoughts on an 0-3 acting like that. "I guess they wanted to get us rowdy, so we just played aggressive and it took it took it's course there."
After being completely dominated in all aspects of the game, East Carolina is probably one Conference USA team glad to see Louisville headed to the Big East.
