"Louisville is another team that people thought I never would have considered," Cushing explained at the time. "They really get the job done in the Big East. They're also not too far from home and they're picking up on what they're doing as a program--and are also recruiting me real hard."
So how have things changed for the U.S. Army All-American since narrowing his list down?
"I've had a lot more phone calls," said Cushing, who continued to explain that most calls are from programs hoping to get back into his list of favorites. "I'm definately set with those five."
Cushing confirmed to InsidetheVille.com on Wednesday night his intentions to visit Louisville in December.
"I'm going to visit there on December 17th. I was going to go to USC that weekend, but I'm changing that date."
As a visitor that weekend, Cushing, who will join current U of L commit Darius Mann on the trip, will attend the December 18th basketball game between Louisville and Kentucky.
He also plans on making all five of his official visits before making a decision.
"I'm going to try to take one more before the All-Star game (January 14) and then the rest afterwards," explained the 5-star prospect.
So, no chance of him announcing his college destination during the game, on national television?
"Probably not, but if I visit somewhere before the game and really like it then I could."
With two of his favorites, in Louisville and Miami, squaring off in a week, Cushing will be focused to ESPN, taking in the action.
"I'll definately be watching. I know what Louisville can do already, but if they win a game like this one it could do a lot...not only for me, but the rest of country will realize what Louisville can do."
Cushing has recorded 43 tackles, including 2.5 sacks through three games. He's also pulled in four receptions for 175 yards and two touchdowns.
