NJ Kicker (athlete) receives offer from U of L

Gloucester Catholic (NJ) kicker/punter Merf Trout (6-0, 185, 4.5) isn't the average ordinary kicker. He bench presses 340 pounds, squats 580 pounds he plays running back, safety, cornerback, linebacker, and also returns kicks and punts.

"I like to consider myself as an athlete who can kick, not just a kicker," said Trout

Trout has earned offers from Pittsburgh, Louisville, Wisconsin, and Hofstra. Pittsburgh is where Merf's father David played his college ball from 1977-1980. The elder Trout also played in the NFL including a stint with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Trout has yet to attempt a field goal in 2004, he has successfully converted 25/25 PAT's, 16 touchbacks; he has punted twice for a 58-yard average. Offensively he has 8 rushing touchdowns in 3 games.

Trout transferred from Winslow Township prior to enrolling at Gloucester Catholic.
