Brian Johnson to miss season with knee injury

University of Louisville freshman forward Brian Johnson will have surgery to repair cartilage damage to his knee and will miss the entire 2004-05 season.

Injuries have been prevelant for the University of Louisville men's basketball team the past two seasons. Unfortunately for U of L Head Coach Rick Pitino, the injury bug will once again claim another victim this season.

6-9 Brian Johnson, a talented forward from Oak Hill Academy, will have surgery later this month on his knee. Johnson, who had surgery last spring to repair damaged cartilage in his knee, was being counted on to provide depth and rebounding in the Cardinals frontcourt this season

"Our focus now is on getting Brian healthy," Pitino said. "This is a big blow to our teams frontline depth."

Norman Scott, the New York Knicks Orthopedic Surgeon and the father of U of L graduate assistant Eric Scott, will perform the surgery on Johnson's knee.

Stay tuned for more details later today.
