Jacksonville Athlete Has Louisville Interest

Michael Hicks of Andrew Jackson (FL) High School in Jacksonville is a strong, big play athlete and has recently scheduled four official visits, including a trip to Louisville.

With a 6-foot-3, 206-pound frame, Michael Hicks is the type of receiver that quarterbacks dream about and he's one that Louisville's Brian Brohm could be throwing to in the future. However, while some project Hicks as a receiver, some view as a possible linebacker or tight end.

Hicks, a former teammate of current Louisville freshman George Stripling, is best described as a strong, big-play receiver, who may remind U of L fans of current Cardinal Joshua Tinch.

"He's big and rangy," said Andrew Jackson head coach Kevin Sullivan of his senior. "He runs very well and always makes the play."

Coach Sullivan also credited Hicks as the reason that his team played better than most expected this season.

"We reached the third round of the playoffs before losing to Bolles," said Hicks high school coach Kevin Sullivan. "We finished 9-4 and we were expecting 5-5 before the season and a lot of that is because of Michael."

With scholarship offers in from Connecticut, East Carolina, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Northwestern, South Florida and Vanderbilt, Hicks has started scheduling official visits and has four trips planned already.

"He has set up visits with Louisville, Vanderbilt, Northwestern and South Florida," Sullivan said. "He's pretty wide open right now, but we have a tailback, George Stripling, that played for us last year that is at Louisville, so he's kind of leaning towards that. He likes the academic aspects of Northwestern and Vanderbilt."

Hicks will make his trip to Louisville on the weekend of December 17th, making an impressive list of visitors even bigger.
