Grinter to Visit UK; Solid with UofL

Fairdale's Maurcie Grinter who committed to Louisville in May will likely make an official trip to Kentucky, but he continues to remain a solid pledge for the Cardinals.

Since the start of in-home visits over a week ago, the coaching staff at Kentucky have hit the state hard and have extended numerous invitations for official visits. Despite some of the prospects having already made verbal commitments to Louisville, the UK staff made visits and invited them to visit the campus, a fairly normal strategy throughout college football.

However, due to the rivalry between the Cardinals and Wildcats, it has spurred a war of words amongst fans of the two programs. Among those invited are offensive lineman Mike Donoghue of Covington Catholic, who actually tripped to Lexington last weekend, Madisonville defensive end Blake Boyd and Maurice Grinter of Fairdale.

Following his visit last weekend, Donoghue stated that his commitment remains with Louisville. On Tuesday, Blake Boyd told Inside the Ville that he won't be making the trip and that his heart is with Louisville.

So, how about Maurice Grinter?

"It wasn't really my decision," Grinter said of an official visit to UK. "My dad wanted me to go up there and look around."

Grinter, who recently welcomed U of L assistant coaches Jeff Brohm, Mike Summers and Paul Petrino into his home, had a quick reply when asked if his commitment was solid with the Cardinals.

"Oh yeah!"

As a two-sport standout, Grinter is now spending a majority of his time on the hardwood and recently participated in the Marshall County Hoopfest (story upcoming) and his team will host the annual King of the Bluegrass which begins on December 16th.
