Petrino to visit top NC receiver tonight

Charlotte, North Carolina speedster Trenton Guy, one of the top wide receiver prospects in the Tar Heel state, appears to have narrowed his choices to Louisville and North Carolina. U of L coach Bobby Petrino will visit with the standout tonight and the elusive Guy will be visiting Louisville this weekend.

University of Louisville coach Bobby Petrino will head south tonight to make an in-home visit with Trenton Guy, one of the top prospects in the state of North Carolina.

"Coach Petrino is making an in-home visit Tuesday night," Guy said Monday evening. "Then I'll be going up to Louisville this weekend for my official visit. I'm excited because it's my first official visit to a school."

Guy, a former teammate of current U of L freshman corner Rod Council at West Charlotte High School, says his relationship with Council might have an impact on his own decision.

"It could," the 5-10, 170-pound Guy admitted. "He's going to be my tour guide on my visit this Saturday."

A strong student, Guy, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, will be looking for a combination of academics and atheltics when he makes his college decision in the next few weeks.

"Acadmics and how well I bond with the guys already on the team," Guy explained. "I want to be with a good bunch of guys who are focused on improving."

A speedster who also runs track, Guy is looking to play offense and become a factor on special teams at the next level.

"I want to play receiver and return kicks," Guy said. "Louisville is recruiting me and has offered me as a receiver. And so has North Carolina."

Following his official visit to U of L this weekend, Guy will trip to UNC on January 14. After that, he'll likely make his decision. And he says his parents are supportive whether he elects to remain in-state or attend college outside his native North Carolina.

"They'll support me whereever I chose to attend," Guy said.
