Petrino visits Jerome Hayes

4-star prospect and U.S. Army All-American Jerome Hayes received an in-home visit from U of L head coach Bobby Petrino and assistant Kevin Wolthausen on Monday evening.

The last time we checked in with Jerome Hayes of Bayonne (NJ) High School, the 4-star prospect was considering an official visit to Louisville. So, did an in-home visit from U of L head coach Bobby Petrino and assistant Kevin Wolthausen convince Hayes to set up a trip to the River City?

"Not yet," Hayes told "I'm still thinking about and I should know on Monday for sure."

However, while the U.S. Army All-American has yet to decide if he'll visit Louisville, he did say that his visit with the Cardinals coaches went well, despite not being able to spend much time with them personally.

"I didn't get too see them that long because I was at basketball practice, but they talked with my parents for awhile," Hayes explained. "Coach Petrino told me that he would like to have me as a running back and I like that."

As a senior Hayes totaled over 1,200 yards rushing, while also recording 103 tackles from his linebacker position.

With visits to Florida, Michigan State and Rutgers now behind him and a trip to Miami set for this weekend, Hayes is welcoming a number of coaches into his home, seeking that final visit.

Hayes told ITV that in addition to Louisville, coaches from Miami, Rutgers, Michigan, Nebraska, Maryland and Florida have recently made visits to his home.

Hayes did hint that Louisville's growing presence in the Garden State could play a role in his decision over the coming weeks.

"It won't sway my decision, but it'll help," Hayes said of the Cardinals making strong recruiting efforts in his home state.

Stay logged on to early next week to find out if Hayes chooses to visit Louisville and how his trip to Miami went.
