Official Visit Weekend Recap

It was a huge recruiting weekend for U of L head coach Bobby Petrino and staff as they welcomed more than a dozen prospects to campus. As they returned home, ITV caught up with nearly all of them and compiled this report so you wouldn't miss the latest on each.

TE Careg Bonner
6'3, 230, 4.8
Huntsville (AL) High School
While Bonner didn't commit during his visit, the tight end prospect claims that U of L is the leader for his services. He anticipates making official visits to Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Troy State before making a decision.

DE Brandon Deaderick
6'4, 230
Elizabethtown High School
The 4-star defensive end was unavailable following his visit, but ITV expects to talk with him on Monday afternoon. Reports are that he had a very good visit. He has already visited Kentucky and has trips remaining to Alabama and Auburn.

LB Brian Cushing
6'3, 230, 4.5
Bergen Catholic (NJ) High School
The 5-star prospect wasn't expected to make a commitment and he didn't. However, he did leave impressed. "The facilities were great and with them adding an indoor facility is even better," said Cushing. "This is the best visit I've had. It's a team headed in the right direction. They are definately up there." He has trips to Florida, USC, Miami and either Boston College or Virginia remaining.

OL Mike Donoghue
6'3, 290, 5.0
Covington Catholic High School
Following an official visit to Kentucky the first weekend in December there was speculation that Donoghue may reconsider his commitment to the Cardinals. The 3-star offensive lineman, who projects as a center, sounds solid for Louisville following his trip. "That's were I'm going," Donoghue said. "It's good to be able to go to a school that is high on college football and is so close to home. They have everything there."

WR/LB Michael Hicks
6'3, 205, 4.6
Jackson (FL) High School
The former high school teammate of current Cardinal George Stripling didn't commit during his visit and is expected to visit all of his favorites, which also include Vanderbilt, Northwestern and South Florida, before making a decision.

OL Cordaro Howard
6'5, 255
Phenix City Central (AL) High School
Another surprise visitor that has flown under the radar, Howard spurned interest from Auburn, Georgia Tech, Troy State and Ole Miss and committed to Louisville during his visit. "I actually committed on Saturday," Howard said. "They're a growing program and I wanted to be a part of a program that competes for a national championship. They have a real good school and I decided that it was the school for me."

OL Marcus Gordon
6'6, 330
Highland (KS) Junior College
Somewhat of a surprise visitor, the 4-star junior college prospect not only has fans at Louisville wondering about a possible commitment, but also fans of Nebraska. Gordon verbally committed to Nebraska during an official visit to Lincoln on December 12th, but after making the decision, the imposing lineman chose to visit Louisville before giving the Cornhuskers a signed Letter of Intent.

WR Trenton Guy
5'10, 170, 4.4
West Charlotte (NC) High School
Guy, who had committed to U of L prior to his visit, returned home after reaffirming his commitment to the Cardinals coaching staff.

DL Patrick Kuntz
6'3, 255, 4.8
Roncalli (IN) High School
Prior to his visit, he told ITV that he would announce his decision on Christmas Eve and he is sticking to his plans. The 3-star prospect described his visit as "awesome" and said that he'll decide from Louisville, Michigan State and Duke.

S Darius Mann
6'0, 180
Don Bosco (NJ) Prep
Mann, who was the first commitment of the 2005 recruiting class, didn't want to leave following his visit to U of L. "It felt like home, I didn't want to leave," said Mann.

OL Brian Roche
6'5, 280, 5.0
Don Bosco (NJ) Prep
The former Rutgers commit, who has already visited Michigan State, was impressed when watching the Cardinals practice on Sunday morning. "To see how powerful the offense is was great," Roche said. "I could see myself apart of that, but I want to take my other visits before deciding. I did get everything that I wanted out of this visit." The 4-star offensive lineman will take all of his visits before making a decision.

CB E.K. Sawyer
6'0, 175, 4.49
Godby (FL) High School
Sawyer, who had previously committed to Louisville, made his first trip to the River City this past weekend. ITV has yet to contact Sawyer.

DT L.D. Scott
6'2, 265. 4.9
Auburn (AL) High School
As expected, Scott verbally committed to U of L during his visit over the weekend. "Yeah, I committed," Scott said. "The coaches were excited about it. It feels a lot better to have it done." Scott also considered offers from Mississippi State and Southern Miss.

QB Chris Turner
6'3, 195, 4.8
Chaminade College (CA) Prep
The California quarterback returned home without making a commitment, but according to Turner, the U of L coaches didn't ask him to commit during his visit.

TE Corey Wootton
6'7, 255, 4.9
Don Bosco (NJ) Prep
Wootton told ITV that meeting the current members of the team, as well as the atmosphere at the basketball game and the facilities were all impressive. However, the Garden State prospect continues to claim no leader, "I'm still pretty much wide open, but I really like Louisville." He plans on making all five visits before making a decision.
