Will it be Louisville or SDSU for Kendrick Ussin?

Despite giving San Diego State his verbal commitment in July, Kendrick Ussin is taking a look at Louisville before making a final decision.

In July, Kendrick Ussin of Marrero (LA) Ehret High School verbally pledged to San Diego State, becoming the first commitment of the recruiting period for the Aztecs. However, before he makes a final decision, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete is going to take a close look at the Louisville program during an official visit this weekend.

"I'm going up there on Friday," Ussin explained. "I want to see the scenery of the campus and meet the players and coaches."

Ussin, who has been Ehret's starting quarterback the past two seasons, is being recruited by both schools as a possible wide receiver, due in part to his 4.43-40 speed.

"Besides my speed I would say that I have really good hands and catch the ball well," continued Ussin, who hasn't lined at as a receiver since his sophomore season. "Receiver is what I want to play in college."

Louisville defensive coordinator Mike Cassity is recruiting Ussin and spent some time in the Ussin home recently.

"Coach Cassity was here two or three weeks ago," Ussin explained. "That went really well. We talked about my grades and school, me playing receiver there and a bunch of other stuff."

With the Cardinals playing on national television multiple times throughout the 2004 season, Ussin was able to tune in a few times during U of L's 11-1 campaign.

"I saw them play a lot this year," said Ussin. "Their offense was really good...they were awesome!"

So, what's the skinny on his commitment to San Diego State and the interest in Louisville?

"I committed there, but I'm still exploring things some," Ussin explained. "It'll be one of those two schools."

And, what if he is equally impressed of U of L during official visit as he was while watching the Cards on ESPN?

"I'll know where I'm going after this weekend," admitted Ussin. "My decision will be solid after this visit."
