Roche narrows list, trying to find the "one"

RECRUITING 2005 New Jersey offensive lineman Brian Roche returned from his final official visit over the weekend and with just three days until national signing day, the four-star prospect is having a difficult time identifying a favorite. Will he be swayed by Notre Dame's rich tradition? Will he follow teammate Darius Mann to Louisville? Or will late-comer Florida pull a surprise?

Brian Roche of Don Bosco Prep has realized the complexity of making his college decision. The four-star lineman has narrowed his five favorites – Florida, Notre Dame, Louisville, N.C. State, and Michigan State – down to a final three, but is having a tough time slimming down to his destination school.

"I wish I had another week," remarked Roche. "Things are very ‘unfirm' right now. I'll be able to figure out in two days, because now I'm totally removed from everything. I'd say I'm down to at the most three, but I don't really want to reveal who the three are."

Roche, who is a former commitment to in-state Rutgers, has officially visited each of his five favorites with his most recent visit being this weekend to South Bend to check out the Fighting Irish.

"I liked it, it was a lot different from all the other places I visited," explained Roche. "I can't explain how it's different and in a way I don't know if it is better or worse. You get this feeling while you're there. Everybody there is a little different then everybody else.

"Coach Weis flew in to see me then he flew back. There was only two kids there, he just came to see me and this other kid from California. He had like three meals with me and then left."

Roche figures to announce his decision on Signing Day.
