The advisory board, which met last night, convened to discuss proposed changes to the Green Lot this coming football season. Specifically, the athletic department has had to address a variety of parking problems associated with the green lot and chose a diverse group of individuals to represent the interests of the green lot patrons. The primary emphasis was on parking, or lack of, and traffic movement within the lot.
"The athletic department has chosen to assign parking spaces beginning next year," said Medley. "This was done to assure all pass holders have an opportunity to park within the green lot and help eliminate some traffic/pedestrian concerns within the lot as cars attempt to find parking spaces."
According to Medley, the new assigned parking plan should have minimal impact on tailgating with proper planning.
"We will have the opportunity to order passes with our tailgating friends assuring we all park together," said Medley. "We will also have the opportunity to request certain parking areas such as on the walkway, etc. Parking will be assigned based on priority points. Tailgating groups will have all points added and then averaged to determine a priority points number."
Several additional topics were also discussed Tuesday evening. The shuttle system within the lot will be expanded and improved for those who choose to use it. Additionally, according to Medley, the lack of restrooms will also be addressed. Further, parking layout will be addressed to help eliminate automobile/pedestrian crossings. Traffic problems exiting the stadium are being addressed with the City and Police Department.
