St.X's Tronzo joins Cardinal program

After debating the advantages of both Louisville and Kentucky, St.X senior Joseph Tronzo has made a decision.

"I've decided to go to Louisville," Tronzo told

For Tronzo, who helped St. X High School to a state title as a senior, joining a successful program played a large role in his choice to become a Cardinal.

"I realized that I wanted to be with a winning program," explained the first team All-State selection. "Coming from St. X I am accustomed to winning and I realized that I wanted to be on a team where winning is expected."

The first team All-State selection, who projects as a fullback, is looking forward to suiting up for the Red and Black with the start of fall camp.

"Coach Nord told me that since that will be a new position for me that they will use me in short yardage situations at the beginning and then I'll grow from there," explained Tronzo, who also throws shotput for St. X's track team.

Of course, it is March Madness, so we had to ask the newest Cardinal what he expects of the school's basketball team in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.

"Well, that's my team now, so I'm hoping that they go all the way," Tronzo said. "You have to like your chances with Rick Pitino as the head coach."
