Forward Ellis Myles recorded the first triple-double in C-USA Tournament history in the victory. Myles had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. The triple double is just the second in U of L history. His 10 assists equals a career high. Samaki Walker has the Cardinals' only other triple double when he had 14 points, 11 blocked shots and 10 rebounds in an 88-86 victory over a Kentucky team coached by current U of L head coach Rick Pitino.
The Cardinals are now 8-2 in their first game of the Conference USA Tournament.
Forwards Juan Palacios (10) and Ellis Myles (9) grabbed 19 of the Cardinals' 29 first-half rebounds. U of L held a 29-15 advantage on the boards in the opening 20 minutes.
The 24-point win equaled the largest by a U of L team in the C-USA Tournament. The Cardinals other 24-point victory came in a 110-86 victory over the Horned Frogs in the 2002 Tournament.
Junior Taquan Dean reached the 1,000-point total for his career with his third point of the game. Dean is the 56th Cardinal to join the 1,000-point club. He now has 1,009 points for his career.
After going scoreless in the first half, guard Larry O'Bannon scored eight of the Cardinals' first 10 second-half points. He had 15 points in the first 6:59 of the half. O'Bannon finished with 18 points to lead a group of five Cardinals in double figures.
The Horned Frogs missed their first 10 three-point attempts before Judson Tubbs connected with just over a minute remaining in the first half.
Forward Aaron Curtis nearly doubled his season's scoring average with 14 points. He entered the contest averaging 7.2 ppg.
