Micah Johnson may visit U of L later this month

Micah Johnson, one of the nation's top prospects, is piling up several impressive scholarship offers. And while he hasn't made any visits this spring, he's talking about a possible trip to Louisville later this month.

Micah Johnson is one of the most highly sought prospects in the entire country and he's thrown his name in the hat to become the top overall player in the nation.

"I have new offers from Penn State, LSU, Oklahoma and Purdue. That puts me at 17 total now," Johnson said.

The Kentucky star, who plays running back on offense, and linebacker on defense for Fort Campbell High, sorts his list of favorites by the position each school is recruiting him to play at the next level.

"Right now for running back I really like Louisville, Michigan State, Auburn, and Ohio State," said Johnson. "Linebacker is the position where it's still wide open to all 17 schools."

Johnson says he doesn't have a preference about position at this point.

"I'm still kind of undecided on which position I'll play," he said. "That decision will be based on how well I do at each position this fall."

Johnson has dropped some weight since checking in at a massive 277-pounds just a few months ago. "I've gotten back down to 260. I plan to play at 245-250 this season."

Johnson hasn't had a chance to check out many junior days, but he'll get his first shot in two weeks time.

"I haven't gotten a chance to be at any junior days because track is taking up a lot of time," he said. "I'm trying to make it over to Louisville in 2 weeks for their spring game."
