U of L v. UK moved to Sunday for ESPN

The 2005 Kentucky-Louisville football game at Commonwealth Stadium will be played on Sunday, September 4 at 3:30 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN. It's the fourth straight season that an ESPN network has carried this rivalry game on Sunday, and is the eighth time that the game will be televised in the 12 years since the teams resumed playing in 1994.

"It's so important for us to have another game nationally-televised," said head coach Bobby Petrino. "The UK-Louisville game has done so much for football in the state of Kentucky, and for it to be on national television again means so much to people in the state and for our program."

The Cardinals have five games penciled in for national television, with a possbility of two or three more to be announced in the upcoming months. With the announcement of the Kentucky game, the Cardinals will face Oregon State (ESPN/2/ABC), Pittsburgh (ESPN), Rutgers (ESPN2) and Connecticut (ESPN) on national television.

The Cardinals have won the last two meetings, a 28-0 win at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium and a 40-24 win in 2003 at Commonwealth Stadium. Louisville has won five of the last six contests in this series.
