Garcia signs with agent

U of L head coach Rick Pitino announced on Wednesday morning that Francisco Garcia has signed with an agent and will not return to the team for his senior season. Pitino also introduced the latest additions to the Cardinal basketball staff.

University of Louisville junior Francisco Garcia, who helped guide the Cardinals to their first Final Four since 1986, will not return next season.

"Francisco Garcia has signed with an agent," said U of L head coach Rick Pitino. "It was not somebody that I picked."

According to sources, Garcia has signed with noted sports agent Aaron Goodwin, who also serves as Cleveland Cavaliers star Lebron James' agent.

Pitino also introduced the newest members of his staff to the media on Wednesday morning.

  • Marvin Menzies comes to Louisville after spending a year at UNLV. Menzies has also spent time as an assistant at USC and San Diego State.
  • Steve Masiello, who played for Pitino at Kentucky, will join Pitino's staff after spending four seasons with Manhattan College, including the last two as the Jaspers top assistant.
  • Fellow Manhattan assistant Dan McHale will join Masiello on Pitino's new staff. McHale served as Manhattan's Administrative Assistant for Basketball Operations will be the Cardinals Director of Video Operations.
  • Current Cardinal assistant Vince Taylor has been moved to Administrative Assistant.
