UPDATED: Louisville camps attracting top prospects

This weekend Bobby Petrino and his staff will conduct camps for high school athletes at the Papa John's Cardinal Stadium football complex. A number of the region's top prospects will be on hand to display their talent's to the Cardinal coaches.

The 2004 Louisville Cardinals, who finished the season as league and bowl champions, boasted of having the nation's top offense for the majority of the year. Petrino's well balanced and potent offense averaged 539 yards and just under 50 points a game. Senior quarterback Stefan LeFors, who was selected in the NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers, led the nation in effeciency, while the Cardinals ground game, which also produced two NFL draftee's in Eric Shelton and Lionel Gates, averaged 250 yards an outing, 8th best in the land.

Due to this Louisville staff's ability to develop their players into NFL prospects, a number of the region's top athletes will be participating in one of the Cardinal's camps this weekend.

"When we recruit, we want to recruit guys that have the dream and ambition to play in the NFL," explained U of L head coach Bobby Petrino. "It's tough to be a college football player. You are required to do a lot of things, so you have to have that drive behind you."

Dozens of players will be trying to show that drive to Petrino and staff on Saturday and Sunday at the Papa John's Cardinal Stadium football complex.

While it is impossible to uncover all of the athletes that will be attending this weekend's camps, the following list includes some of the players that have confirmed with InsidetheVille.com that they plan on participating.
